Dear MENA-IEA colleagues
As you may be already aware, the World Epidemiology Conference (WCE) ۲۰۲۰ which had been scheduled in Melbourne this summer has been postponed by one year, due to the Covid-۱۹ pandemic. This has automatically meant that my role as your Councilor with the IEA Executive has been extended by one year. The process of nomination will reopen in the second half of ۲۰۲۱ to select the person who may be willing to succeed me in this position. In this context, I would like to remind you of the importance of keeping your membership in good stand for ۲۰۲۰ and ۲۰۲۱.
Membership fees can be renewed for most countries by directly accessing the IEA website www.ieaweb.org. There are special discounts on fees for Early Career Epidemiologists, and epidemiologists in Low & Medium Income Countries (LMIC). IEA members from countries with special financial issues, such as Iran and Lebanon, can renew their membership through their local epidemiological associations, and in turn they will communicate with me for channeling funds. Membership ensures continued access to the prestigious International Journal of Epidemiology, as well as special privileges when attending the WCEs.
Thank you for your attention to that matter.
Salim M. Adib, MD, DrPH
